Full Job Description Summary:
HK Build Co. is looking for a reliable, hardworking Skilled Laborer / Foreman Trainee to join our growing general contracting team. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on construction, remodeling, handyman, carpentry, painting, maintenance, or general labor experience who wants steady local work and the opportunity to grow into a leadership role. The right candidate does not need to be a fully experienced foreman today, but should be dependable, organized, coachable, and interested in learning how to eventually run small jobs, manage job-site tasks, communicate with customers, and help keep projects moving efficiently. This is a hands-on field position with room to grow for the right person.

HK Build Co. is looking for a dependable Skilled Laborer / Foreman Trainee to support residential and light commercial projects throughout the North Pittsburgh area. We are a growing general contracting company focused on quality workmanship, clear communication, and professional job-site management. This position is a great fit for someone who enjoys hands-on construction work but also wants to grow beyond basic labor. The ideal candidate will assist with daily job-site tasks while learning how to plan work, coordinate materials, communicate with team members, and eventually lead smaller projects or portions of larger jobs. Day-to-day work may include general remodeling, repairs, carpentry support, drywall patching, painting prep, flooring support, light demo, exterior repairs, deck/fence work, punch-list items, material runs, customer communication, and job-site cleanup. We are looking for someone who shows up on time, takes pride in their work, communicates well, and wants to build a long-term role with a local company.
Responsibilities Responsibilities may include:
Assisting with residential remodeling, repairs, and general construction projects Supporting carpentry, drywall, painting, flooring, exterior repair, and punch-list work Loading, unloading, organizing, and tracking tools and materials Keeping job sites clean, safe, and professional Following direction from ownership, project leads, or senior team members Learning how to plan daily tasks and keep work moving efficiently Communicating professionally with customers when needed Helping identify material needs, job-site issues, and next steps Taking ownership of assigned tasks and completing work to a quality standard Growing into the ability to lead small tasks, small crews, or smaller jobs over time We take pride in clean, high-quality work and are looking for someone who does the same. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is: Reliable, punctual, and professional Experienced with hands-on construction or maintenance work Comfortable using basic hand and power tools Interested in growing into a leadership role Organized and able to think ahead Able to take direction and learn quickly Comfortable communicating with customers and coworkers Physically able to lift materials, work on ladders, and be on their feet throughout the day Respectful of customers' homes and job sites Looking for steady local work with room to grow Requirements Reliable transportation required Valid driver's license required Prior construction, remodeling, handyman, painting, carpentry, maintenance, landscaping, or skilled labor experience preferred Basic hand tools preferred, but not required for the right candidate Must be able to lift 50+ lbs as needed Must be comfortable working indoors and outdoors Must be able to commute to job sites around North Pittsburgh / North Side Pittsburgh Must be dependable, coachable, and willing to learn Nice to have
Skills:
Basic carpentry, trim work, drywall repair, painting, flooring, light framing, deck/fence repair, door/hardware adjustments, bathroom/kitchen remodel support, and reading basic plans.
Pay:
$20•35/hr based on experience. Higher pay may be available for candidates with strong construction experience, leadership potential, and the ability to manage tasks without constant supervision. Opportunity to grow into a lead role•the main driver of this hire.
