POSITION SUMMARY
The Slopes Maintenance Supervisor at Arapahoe Basin is responsible for day-to-day supervision of the Grooming and Snowmaking departments. This supervisor works closely with the S lopes Maintenance Manager , the Snowmaking Manager, and the VP of Mountain Operations to ensure a coherent, safe, and efficient on-hill plan. The Slopes Maintenance Supervisor's priorities change with snow conditions and operating seasons. This position will focus on supervising the Snowmaking and Grooming departments to open the ski area in the fall, maintain the ski slopes in the winter, and extend A-Basin's season in spring. During the summer, this position prepares A-Basin for the upcoming winter season by completing maintenance and capital improvement projects. The Slopes Maintenance Supervisor may assist with administrative functions of the Grooming and Snowmaking departments.
WAGE:
The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high ends of Arapahoe Basin's hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors , including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, and responsibilities. The range listed is just one component of Arapahoe Basin's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include many region-specific benefits.

$25.75 - $38.75 /hour
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Grooming staff in the winter and spring and the Snowmaking staff in the summer and fall Assist when needed with administrative functions for the Grooming and Snowmaking departments including onboarding, performance concerns, scheduling, payroll, hiring, training, and other related functions Serve as the point of contact in the absence of the Snowmaking and Slopes Maintenance Managers Be responsible for high-quality snow production through effective training and delegation of staff Communicate directly with management about crew performance issues and task progression Follow established safety procedures; promote a safe work environment for all slopes maintenance employees Establish and maintain effective working relationships with multiple department heads and employees Assist with creating and executing work lists for year-round trail work including capital improvement projects. Order and stage materials for summer projects Maintain and position the Cat Moveable Fence Fleet Work with ski patrol trail coordinators to organize trails projects and rope pulling missions; perform compaction of avalanche terrain with the roller compactor Assist with food and beverage bin deliveries and trash hauling Ensure appropriate snow height at RFID gantries; help with daily grooming and snowmaking priorities Stay up to date on all necessary vehicle maintenance shop trainings including those for: bench grinders, air compressors, fuel pumps Train and encourage employees to actively participate in sustainability initiatives and support them in maintaining sustainable practices Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
At least 3 seasons of on-mountain employment at Arapahoe Basin - preferred Advanced knowledge of and ability to operate of loaders, snowcats, and winch cats Basic first aid/CPR Ability to identify issues/conflicts and resolve problems in a timely manner Professional and effective verbal communication Strong leadership skills Must be available weekends and holidays This position requires successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Record Background Check.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent - preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to withstand high-altitude conditions at all times Ability to safely ski and hike on intermediate and expert terrain. Must be able to safely navigate steep uneven mountainous terrain and use a variety of tools in a variety of weather conditions for a full 10-hour shift. Use full range of body motion: bend, twist, kneel, squat, push, pull, throw, and lift up to 50 lbs. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily- reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position will work outdoors in a high-alpine environment in all types of weather conditions. This role may work outdoors without shelter for up to 10 hours. Additionally, it will consistently operate or work around noisy machinery. Riding a chairlift is required for this role.
