Job Description

Overview Kimley-Horn's San Diego, California (CA) office is currently seeking a Transportation Planner with 8+ years of experience to join our Transit team. This is an in-office position and not remote. Responsibilities Be a leader in a growing, multidisciplinary transit practice. Manage the planning, production, and delivery of transit projects, with a particular focus on Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), Light Rail Transit (LRT), and Passenger Rail. Apply knowledge of concept development, performance evaluation, federal programs, funding sources, and community outreach to support the advancement of transit programs. Assist clients with program management, capital planning, and policy development. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project execution. Effectively communicate directly with clients, community leaders, and agency staff to provide updates, propose recommendations, and address concerns or questions. Foster the growth and professional development of junior staff. Demonstrate excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. Maintain strong organizational skills and attention to quality. Balance priorities among multiple projects to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work. Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or a related field. American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) license or Professional Engineering (PE), or ability to obtain within one year. Minimum of 8+ years of transit-focused experience.
Salary Range:
