Creative problem solver Proactive self-starter Life-long learner Strong team player Passionate about excellent customer service Positive, can-do attitude Effective communicator Desire to impart knowledge to others "Early adopter" of new technologies What You'll Be Doing This position, within the Department of Public Works, is responsible for managing the Town's road, bridge, and pedestrian infrastructure maintenance program. Responsibilities include data collection and analysis, project scope and cost estimate development, managing change orders, project inspection, creating long and short-term maintenance and replacement plans, and adhering to accessibility standards. This role involves coordinating work between various Town departments, contractors, consultants, and the Virginia Department of Transportation. Degree in engineering, project management, road construction or related field or a combination of equivalent training, education and experience. Minimum of five (5) years of related experience. Experience managing construction projects, including budgeting, timelines and resource allocation. Ability to obtain VDOT Asphalt and Earthwork certification within one (1) year of hire. Ability to obtain National Highway Institute Bridge Inspector certification within two (2) years of hire. Possession of a valid driver's license and a safe driving record. Advanced degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field and extensive managerial experience. Eight or more years of experience with managing a pavement and bridge inspection and maintenance program. Eight (8) or more years of experience with asset management, capital replacement planning and systems. Virginia PE license. Certified Construction Manager (CCM). Experience with Emergency planning and Public Works response. Training specific to ADA compliance within the public right-of-way. Bilingual in English/Spanish.
