JOB PURPOSE
This position provides comprehensive operational, administrative, and programmatic support to the External/Government Affairs team, including policy committees, Policy Councils, Basecamps, and major policy events. Responsibilities include research, stakeholder coordination, event planning and execution, and management of systems supporting policy engagement, member participation, and external advocacy alignment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions Policy Councils Policy Councils were established in 2025 to expand engagement opportunities for advisory-level members and above. These councils are non-voting bodies that provide a structured forum for member input, policy discussion, and strategic alignment. The Government Affairs Coordinator is responsible for: ManaginglogisticsformultiplePolicy Councilmeetings per month Creating and managing registration pages for each council meeting Managing calendar invites and communications for all council meetings Maintaining and updating council membership lists: Receiving and reconciling Salesforce reports Adding new members and ensuringaccuratesegmentation Executing live meeting operations: Hosting and managing Zoom sessions (admissions, recording, troubleshooting) Running PowerPoint presentations Managing AV and production in the Chamber Broadcast Studio Coordinating and drafting agendas and materials aligned with policy priorities Coordinating with team to secure speakers for Policy Council meetings Directing members to supporting resources (FAQ documents, SharePoint materials) Quarterly Policy Briefings (Large-Scale Member Events) The Quarterly Policy Briefings are a key engagement platform open to all members, designed to deliver insights on state, local, and Denver-specific policy issues.
Annual Cadence:
November, February, May, August or September Responsibilities include: Managing end-to-end logistics for four annual briefings Building and managing event registration pages, including membership validation Securing room location Coordinating room setup, layout, and branded materials Ordering and managing catering and beverage service Coordinating internal event resources (tablets, badge printing, linens, AV) Managing event-day execution including setup,registration,volunteers,program flow, and breakdown Overseeing administrativelogisticsincluding supply procurement Coordinating with team to secure speakers and develop agenda Coordinating invitations and written materials Supporting external partnerships and speakers Basecamps & Legislative Engagement Support Provide logistical and administrative support for Government Affairs Basecamps, including scheduling, materials preparation, and on-site or virtual coordination Coordinate communications and participation for Basecamp attendees, ensuring alignment with policy priorities and legislative timelines Support preparation and distribution of materials used for legislative engagement and advocacy Lobbyist & External Stakeholder Coordination Serve as a key point of coordination between the Government Affairs team and contract lobbyists and external policy partners Facilitate communication flow, scheduling, and information sharing between internal stakeholders and lobbyists Support tracking of legislative priorities and alignment of advocacy efforts Assist in preparing briefing materials, updates, and summaries related to lobbying activities Major Event & Committee Support Manage logistics for policy-related meetings including: Legislative Policy Committee C3 Committees Monthly member policy meetings Coordinate venues, speakers, catering, AV setup,sending agendas, invitations, and registration Work with Events team on major event logistics and speaker coordination Policy Tracking & Research Record policy positions during the legislative session using tracking software Compile and produce end-of-session policy reports Conduct research on policy issues Support development of testimony, newsletters, talking points, web content, and issue briefs Systems, Data & Administrative Operations Maintain accurate and up-to-date committee and council rosters in Salesforce Ensure alignment with membership levels and contact data Monitor department budgets and expenditures Prepare purchase orders and coordinate vendor payments Schedule and coordinate weekly and monthly team workflow meetings Maintainup dates to website and events calendar, utilize platforms including Salesforce,Blackthorn,Zoom, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office Additional Responsibilities SupportExternalAffairs team initiatives and strategic projects Contribute to continuous improvement of member engagement and advocacy processes Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Education BA/BS in political science, public administration, communications, or related field preferred 1-2 years of experience in government or public policy preferred Skills Highly adaptable in fast-changing policy environments Strong organizational and multitasking capability Excellent time management and follow-through Strong written and verbal communication skills High attention to detail and accuracy Professionalism, discretion, and ability tomaintainconfidentiality Ability to engage effectively with Chamber members, elected officials, and stakeholders Technical proficiency across event platforms and CRM system
Compensation:
