Job Description
Junior Budget Analyst - NAS Patuxent River
The Position:
This position is awaiting contract award.
We are seeking a motivated Junior Budget Analyst to join our financial management team supporting the F/A-18 variants program at NAS Patuxent River. In this foundational role, you will assist with the financial execution and tracking of program funds. You will ensure that budget submissions are accurate, complete, and fully compliant with Department of Defense (DoD) financial regulations, helping directly sustain critical naval aviation capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Review and evaluate budget estimates for completeness, mathematical accuracy, and strict conformance with NAVAIR procedures and federal regulations.
- Monitor, analyze, and reconcile budgeting and accounting reports to track execution metrics (commitments, obligations, and expenditures).
- Identify discrepancies in financial tracking spreadsheets or defense accounting systems and assist senior analysts in resolving variances.
- compile and organize financial justification data, funding documents, and background information for program reviews and briefings.
Qualifications:
- Must possess or be able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Security Clearance to access the airfield and military installation.
- Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 0 to 3 years of experience in financial tracking, basic accounting, or data analysis (prior internships or introductory experience in a defense or corporate environment is a plus).
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data entry, basic formulas, pivot tables), sharp attention to detail, and a willingness to learn DoD financial management systems (such as Navy ERP).
