A Legislative Policy Analyst provides expertise on legislative policy issues. Gathers background information on issues and tracks legislative initiatives. Works with or advises elected officials, non-profit organizations and interest groups involved with the legislative process.

The entry-level salary is posted above, with the intermediate starting salary of $56, 712.48, and the senior starting salary of $61, 249.44.

Responsibilities - What you'll do Attends legislative committee hearings and floor debates to obtain information related to bills. Conducts research related to proposed legislation and its potential impact on the department. Assists in preparing impact statements for the department's legislative committee for presentation to legislators on how bills affect the department; explains the department's position on legislation. Prepares status reports and summaries of bills for the department's legislative committee; updates information on content of bills as amendments are made. Reviews the Missouri and Federal Registers for regulations with potential impact on department operations. Qualifications - All you need for success
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree:
Political Science, Public Administration, or related field, OR Four years of experience in positions providing exposure to governmental and legislative processes, public policy, or public related activities.
Special Working Conditions:
Job requires occasional, statewide, overnight travel Long working hours are at times required during the annual legislative sessions (January through May) with flexibility during the interim and occasional overtime will be necessary.
