LOCATION OF POSITION MDH
Office of Population Health & Strategic Initiatives\r\n201 W. Preston Street\r\nBaltimore, MD 21201\r\n\r\n Main Purpose of Job The main purpose of this position full-time position will be to serve as a Health Policy Analyst I in the Office of the Secretary, Office of Population Health and Strategic Initiatives (OPHSI). This position will staff the Center for Firearm Violence Prevention and Intervention (Firearm Center) and support the implementation of AHEAD (Achieving Healthcare Efficiency through Accountable Design) population health activities. This position will also plan and coordinate policy and programmatic initiatives related to Maryland's key strategic initiatives, including reducing and addressing firearm violence in all its forms and implementing Maryland's Population Health Accountability Plan (PHAP).\r\n\r\n\r\nThis Health Policy Analyst I position will provide professional guidance at the intermediate level in evaluating, analyzing, researching, reviewing, and formulating health policy and programs. This position will use expertise and skills to support OPHSI leadership and affiliates at MDH through:\r\n\r\n\r\n Policy and cost\r\n analysis to inform decision-making;\r\n Development, coordination, and implementation of policies and\r\n programs;\r\n Document and report preparation;\r\n Research, data analysis, and documentation of\r\n summary/findings to support policy and program development; and\r\n Participation in cross-sector,\r\n interdepartmental collaboration with internal and external partners.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nThis Health Policy Analyst I will also analyze and develop recommendations regarding activities governed by health and public policy and regulations. Under moderate supervision from the Program Director, the Health Policy Analyst I will learn to lead projects and activities that ensure implementation, compliance, and evaluation of statutes, regulations, policies, and programs pertinent to MDH to meet the mission to improve the population health and safety of all Marylanders. Additionally, this Health Policy Analyst I position will execute additional duties assigned by OPHSI leadership to address operational/administrative gaps or that meet emergent public health needs.\r\n\r\n\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
��� A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.\r\n
Experience:
One year of experience evaluating, analyzing, researching and developing health care services, policies and programs.\r\n
Note:
�Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree in Health Sciences, Health Care Administration, Public�Health, Public Policy or closely related field from an�accredited college or university for the required experience.\r\n

The desired candidate should possess:\r\n\r\n\r\n Experience evaluating policy from a public health lens.\r\n Experience communicating complex concepts to a wide and diverse audience.\r\n Strong written and verbal communication skills.\r\n Strong time management and organizational skills.\r\n Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.\r\n Strong passion for gun violence prevention.\r\n\r\n\r\n

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.\r\n
