Research Analyst - Department of Health Policy Virginia Commonwealth University - 3.9 Richmond, VA Job Details $25 an hour 23 hours ago Qualifications Data analysis software Full Job Description 45002528 907 Floyd Avenue, MCV Main Campus, Virginia, United States, 23284 Research Hourly/Wage School of Public Health MBU Position Summary/Overview The Research Assistant will support computational biology research in Dr. Tyc's laboratory by contributing to the development of an R-based software package that integrates omics and drug response data to identify candidate therapeutics. Work focuses on software development, data analysis, and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) methods into the lab's analytical workflow. The successful candidate will work under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator, resolving standard issues independently and referring complex issues as needed.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Develops, tests, and documents R package functions for omics and drug response data. Integrates AI methods into analytical workflows to support automated interpretation of results. Processes, summarizes, and reports research data. Participates in software validation and reproducible research practices. Maintains code, documentation, and analysis records. Trains staff and students on lab software tools.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent education and experience. Programming experience in R or Python. Strong analytical, communication, and critical thinking skills. Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU. Preferred Qualifications Masters degree in Computer Science or related field. Experience developing R packages. Experience with AI methods, including large language models. Experience developing software for biological data analysis. This role will be ending in December 2026.
Salary Range:
$25 hourly
