Job Description

Salary:

$93,642 per year Under the supervision of the Planning and Urban Design leader, lead and participate in establishing planning solutions and programs for large and complex land use, master planning and buildings projects, including residential multistory mixed-use housing campuses, high-rise residential, mid-rise residential, corporate/commercial, retail, civic institutions, government campuses, greenfield projects, institutional buildings, including parking garage, and Tax Credit Allocation Committee (TCAC) compliant unit plans; participate in a wide range of urban and ex-urban projects, including urban design competitions requiring expedited concept development and document production, local and international urban design projects, urban infill development, mixed use regeneration, urban revitalization, brownfield redevelopment, urban planning, streetscapes, land use and transportation, and open space planning projects; assist in responding to Requests for Qualifications (RFQ's), Requests for Proposals (RFP's), and design competitions by crafting response proposals; perform tasks include visioning and enlisting planning design principles; research local/global precedents to apply to the design process; research local and international codes and compliance and building typologies, and document project adherence to relevant codes; conduct reconnaissance and investigations to analyze physical and environmental features of a site; develop site analysis studies using GIS programs and data-driven visualization tools, requiring regional analysis, surrounding land use pattern study, environmental study, transportation system and connectivity analysis, figure-ground study, topographic feature analysis, urban form and frontage study; coordinate with consultants to incorporate demographic and economic data into planning and design process; analyze photographs, topography maps, aerial maps, land use and property records, and site survey of existing conditions and other input material to determine appropriate development strategies; prepare existing condition analyses including drawings, Illustrative conceptual and schematic design drawings, conceptual diagrams and plans, development plans, entitlement plans, access and circulation plans, land use plans, grading plans, planting plans, drainage plans and open space plans; prepare urban design standards, development guidelines and capacity studies; develop site design alternative studies requiring site plans, site sections, 3D digital site massing, and physical site modeling; coordinate with traffic, transit, transportation, civil engineering, entertainment, landscape, code, security, parking, lighting, zoning, signage, marketing/branding, historic preservation and adaptive reuse, and waste management consultants to incorporate multidisciplinary expertise and engineering systems into unified design for client and jurisdiction regulatory agency review and approval; prepare program area tabulation and work with consultants and contractors to develop phasing solutions; solve technical issues of design in relation to sites and buildings; prepare presentations and other graphic material for client, public, jurisdiction regulatory agencies, workshops, and meetings, using 2D/3D CAD and building information modeling programs, including Sketchup, Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino, Lumion, Infraworks, analysis and computer skills to develop 3D building and neighborhood models and presentation images, and building physical models using digital fabrication software for laser cutter and 3D printer; produce design presentation packages and related graphics with Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe AfterEffects, Miro board, Prezi, PowerPoint, Tableau, free-hand digital sketching using Procreate on a tablet, and physical sketching using a variety of media such color pencils, ink, and/or markers; provide ongoing development and support for all sustainable design platforms and work closely with design and delivery leadership to guide the transition from the traditional sustainable design processes and standalone environmental analysis practices into integrated design and analysis processes in collaborative work environments; incorporate LEED sustainable design principles and strategies into master planning and building projects, participate in LEED documentation and commissioning process, prepare 3D energy models to evaluate daily sun exposure, analyze heat loads, and maximize energy savings using Ecotect, Cove.tool, Tally and prepare Title 24 compliance reports; participate in research and selection of building materials and FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment) components required for construction and work with consultants, vendors, product reps, and fabricators to meet overall project objectives required by local jurisdiction precise plans; conduct BIM organization for all documents; assist in identifying weekly project requirements, projecting long term needs and developing project schedules; assist in managing project consultant agreements and project budgets; assist in identifying and quantifying tasks outside the scope of the Owner-Architect agreement for negotiation of additional services; assist in managing project data and transmission and all electronic communications using project information management software.

Job Requirements:
