EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

The following statements describe the principal functions of this job and its scope of responsibility but shall not be considered an all-inclusive listing of work requirements. Individuals may perform other duties as assigned, including working in other functional areas to cover absences or relief, to equalize peak work periods, or otherwise to balance the workload. Performs background research, interviews, and surveys in specific or general planning project areas. Prepares complex reports, charts, graphs, and maps which clearly and concisely express the ideas and recommendations being made. Reviews and analyzes complex regulatory ordinances. Makes recommendations for future actions and assists in updating regulations. Assists with the evaluation of adequate public facilities to meet current demands and projected needs. Reviews and analyzes Federal and State regulations related to environmental issues, land use planning and growth management. Makes action recommendations as needed. Provides information to public and/or other agencies regarding comprehensive plan or land use issues Assists with updates to the Comprehensive Plan and the development of community or neighborhood plans. Writes and presents formal technical reports and working papers. Conducts review of various development applications including subdivisions, permits, site plans, rezoning requests and special exceptions. Regular attendance, evening and weekend meetings may be required. Develops strategies to promote economic and community development consistent with community goals. Identifies community problems, issues and opportunities that could be mitigated through better planning. Other duties as assigned. Emergency Response County employees are required to report for work during a state of emergency and are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations which may include duties other than those specified in this job description. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

Physical Requirements/Work Environment Requires sitting most of the day. The job involves frequent lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds, and occasionally up to 20 pounds. The job requires frequent bending, twisting, and occasional squatting, climbing, kneeling, and balancing. The job requires the completion of tasks that involve simple grasping, pushing, pulling, fine manual manipulation, and typing. The job requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, depth perception and color vision, hearing, and speaking. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
