State College Municipal Building Starting Salary Range:
$63,440 - $80,080 The posting will remain open until Monday, June 8, 2026. Position includes Competitive Benefits (Health, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance), 401 Employer Pension Plan, paid vacation, holidays, sick time plus additional benefits to be discussed during the interview process.
REQUIREMENTS
The Planner has primary responsibility for the development and preparation of plans and reports, program and project implementation, as well as GIS support for the department. Coordinates activities which will lead to the implementation of these plans, with focus on implementation of zoning and licensing ordinances, and housing-related programs. Aids various authorities, boards and commissions. Work is performed under general supervision with a great deal of latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment based on professional education and previous experience.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in planning, geography, urban studies, community and economic development, public administration or related field; supplemented by some experience in local government planning related activities. Must have proficiency with
ESRI GIS
applications and geospatial technologies used in municipal planning. Must have the ability to provide strong customer service, write clearly and make formal presentations. Must have the ability to learn laws, codes and ordinances related to planning and zoning. Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Driver's License.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree planning, urban studies, public administration or a related field. AICP certification. Experience in Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Adobe InDesign). Experience with housing and public finance programs including CDBG and HOME. All interested candidates must apply online to be considered.
