Job Description

Job Overview The McKinney-Vento Liaison will manage full lifecycle of the transportation process on the student services side for students experiencing homelessness to ensure no student misses school due to lack of transportation. This position will serve as the dedicated point of contact for all transportation logistics, bridging the gap between the McKinney-Vento team, transportation department, and school-based staff. Roles and Responsibilities The following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed. This is not a comprehensive listing of all responsibilities or tasks; work may differ and other work may be assigned when deemed appropriate. Reviews internal notes for newly eligible students and verify addresses are correct, ensure SIS information is entered correctly by school-based staff to allow for transportation routing to be triggered, and immediately initiate referrals for alternative or activity transportation. Monitors the immediate enrollment list to ensure students are routed within the 3-day window prior to reaching out to the transportation department for a status update. Contacts the appropriate members of transportation should there be questions regarding transportation routing beyond the 3-day period. Monitors student no shows for transportation and address concerns directly with the students and transportation. Collaborates with specialists to arrange gap transportation using contract transportation, ensuring students can attend school while permanent routing is finalized to reduce missed school days. Serves as the primary contact for school staff and the transportation office, providing real-time updates and resolving dismissal-hour conflicts for students experiencing homelessness. Qualifications Below are the minimum qualifications for this job. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are also acceptable. Education High School Diploma or GED Experience Two (2) years of related experience Licenses and Certifications Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Possesses strong oral and written communications skills and effective interpersonal skills to work with parents as well as school and community agency personnel Communicates a genuine desire to assist students, parents and schools Demonstrates ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint Demonstrates strong organizational skills Physical Requirements The following provides a brief description of physical requirements for this job: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
