GMTMA is seeking a creative and motivated self-starter for our Transportation Planner position. The desired candidate should have a strong interest and a solid understanding of the concepts and practices of Complete and Green Streets, bicycle and pedestrian planning, Vision Zero, and bicycle and pedestrian safety, as well as an appreciation for the role that transportation plays in contributing to the sustainability, equity, and livability of a region. The Transportation Planner position emphasizes sustainable transportation choices and efforts to make them safer and more accessible. The Transportation Planner will be expected to:

• Conduct walkability audits/pedestrian road safety audits and prepare reports
• Prepare school travel plan reports to support the Safe Routes to School Program
• Develop Green Street recommendations as appropriate within audit reports
• Assist in developing and coordinating demonstration projects
• Conduct GMTMA's air quality monitoring program
• Provide planning and technical support for transportation planning studies
• Provide hands-on assistance with educational events
• Support GMTMA's shuttle program
• Attend and participate in municipal, county, and steering committee meetings as necessary.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Planning or a related major
• 2-3 years of relevant experience, a Master's degree may be substituted for one year of experience
• Excellent research and analytical skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Comfortable with public presentations and working with diverse groups
• Ability to work independently
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Proficiency with GIS
• Experience with AutoCAD is a plus
• Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is a plus
• AICP is a plus
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel in our service area
