Job Description
Performs technical work in professional planning for the Planning and Building Services Department; reviews planning and development applications and proposals, and building permits, verifies compliance with County Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Regulations, County policies and procedures, and coordinates with appropriate State and/or Federal agencies as applicable.
- Serves as the initial point of contact for customer service; communicates with clients regarding general land development and regulatory inquiries regarding the Land Development Regulations.
- Reviews planning and development applications and proposals, as well as building and grading permit applications, to assure compliance with County Land Development Regulations and Comprehensive Plan; tasks include pre-application conferences, and staff report preparation for the general public, public officials, and other government agencies.
- Prepares staff reports and provides technical recommendations during public hearings to the Planning Commission and Board of County Commissioners.
- Utilizes the County Geographic Information System (GIS) to analyze and project land use trends to assist in current planning and long-range planning projects; provides research and administrative support to other Planning and Building staff.
- Researches policy issues, and prepares and presents text amendments to the Land Development Regulations for presentation to the Planning Commission and the Board of County Commissioners
- Supports the relationship between Teton County staff and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and County staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and County information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Planning, Landscape Architecture, Architecture, or related field; Master's Degree in related field preferred.
- Up to 1 year of experience with community development and planning programs.
