Job Description

Job Summary Pine Forest School is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and collaborative Part-Time School Counselor to join our dedicated team for the 2026-2027 school year. Our K-8 public charter school is guided by the Core Principles of the Alliance for Public Waldorf Education and offers a rich academic curriculum complemented by special subject classes in Woodwork, Spanish, Visual and Theater Arts, Music, and Games/Movement. We serve a diverse community of students and families and are committed to supporting the academic, social, emotional, and developmental needs of every child. Located in beautiful Flagstaff, Arizona, our community enjoys a vibrant arts culture, outdoor recreation in all four seasons, and easy access to the Grand Canyon and other natural wonders of the Southwest. Position Overview The School Counselor will provide direct counseling services, support students' social-emotional well-being, attend required meetings, and deliver counseling services as outlined in student IEPs. Responsibilities include direct student services, consultation with faculty and families, documentation, and participation in IEP and student support meetings. The weekly schedule will be developed in collaboration with school administration to best meet the needs of students and the school community. The ideal candidate understands child development, values relationship-based education, and is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment.

$29,412 for the school year Duties Provide individual and group counseling sessions focused on academic success, behavioral health, mental health, and personal growth. Develop and implement tailored intervention plans for students facing emotional or behavioral challenges. Collaborate with teachers, parents, administrators, and external agencies to support student well-being and address issues such as conflict management and child welfare. Conduct assessments using standardized testing tools to identify student needs and track progress over time. Offer guidance on childhood development, social skills, cultural diversity counseling, and conflict resolution strategies. Assist in crisis intervention efforts and ensure compliance with child protective services protocols. Promote a safe and inclusive school climate by implementing behavior management techniques and supporting positive behavior initiatives. Requirements Bachelor's degree in School Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field; Master's degree preferred. Valid school counseling certification or licensure as required by local regulations. Proven experience working with children and students in educational or childcare settings. Strong communication skills to effectively engage with students of diverse backgrounds and collaborate with staff and families. Knowledge of behavioral health practices, mental health counseling techniques, and childhood development principles. Experience with classroom experience, standardized testing procedures, child welfare protocols, and child protective services procedures. Ability to manage conflicts constructively and provide culturally sensitive counseling tailored to individual student needs.
