In 1999, we embarked on a dream of creating a private school with a rich Islamic ethos. We have achieved over 20 years of operation, COGNIA accreditation, annual enrollment of 300+ students, and construction of a multi-acre purpose-built facility. We are seeking the best Islamic educator talent to lead Arizona Cultural Academy to become a modern Daycare through grade 12 private Islamic school. ACA is seeking a qualified School Counselor. Hiring a quality Counselor is a critical effort as we build an institution that establishes the next generation of a modern private Islamic school. We are looking for a diverse pool of applicants who are inspired by our mission and possess the skills, knowledge, and work ethic to contribute to a dedicated team willing to do whatever it takes to build an institution that empowers ACA and the Phoenix metro area with knowledge, spirit and service. Expectations of an ACA employee include: Emulate strong moral character and Islamic personal in all of our interactions Give and receive feedback with a desire to improve one's self Pursue and cherish trusted two-way relationships with colleagues and community members Additionally, an ACA School Counselor is expected to fulfill the following duties: Classroom teaching: Student Support Responsibilities (Planning and Preparation, Instruction) Provide individual and group counseling services to support students' social, emotional, and behavioral growth, grounded in Islamic principles. Facilitate Social & Emotional Learning (SEL) classes to build emotional intelligence, regulation, and self-awareness. Act as a mediator in student or student-teacher conflicts, promoting respectful communication and resolution aligned with Islamic values. Lead student development programs that support interpersonal skills, resilience, and academic success. Support students in navigating faith-based challenges through Islamic guidance and balanced spiritual counseling. Coordinate peer mentoring programs to enhance student leadership and support. Environmental and Programmatic Responsibilities (Domain 2: The Classroom Environment) Promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful school culture through anti-bullying efforts and positive behavior interventions. Provide emergency and crisis counseling as needed to maintain a stable and supportive learning environment. Collaborate with the PBIS team and assist in implementation of school-wide behavior systems. Monitor students experiencing peer pressure, bullying, or other challenges and initiate appropriate intervention plans. Encourage student participation in extracurricular programs that promote holistic development and balance. Support the development of Islamic character (akhlaq) through programs, workshops, and mentoring. 3. Professional and Administrative Responsibilities (Professional Responsibilities) Maintain confidential and accurate records in accordance with legal, ethical, and school standards. Regularly communicate and collaborate with teachers and administrators to support student development. Assist in the design and implementation of behavioral support systems such as Check-In/Check-Out. Participate in professional development related to counseling, student well-being, and Islamic education trends. Coordinate and facilitate parent-teacher-student conferences as needed to support the emotional and academic success of students. Attend PLC meetings and engage in reflective practice to improve professional effectiveness. 4. Family and Community Engagement (Domain 4: Professional Responsibilities) Conduct regular parent workshops on topics such as parenting strategies, mental health awareness, and Islamic character development. Serve as a liaison between school and family, ensuring clear, culturally respectful communication to address student needs. Develop partnerships with local Islamic organizations and community leaders to expand student support resources. Provide culturally and religiously sensitive mental health referrals and follow-up for students at risk. Collaborate with parents to develop strategies that uphold Islamic values at home and school. Support school-wide events, spiritual programming, and character education initiatives. Skills Strong background in mental health counseling, particularly within a school setting. Experience working with students of various ages and backgrounds. Knowledge of child welfare policies and practices. Familiarity with academic advising techniques to guide students in their educational journeys. Ability to conduct standardized testing and interpret results effectively. Excellent communication skills for interacting with students, parents, and faculty members. Compassionate approach to childcare that prioritizes the well-being of each student. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple cases effectively while maintaining confidentiality. This position is essential for fostering a supportive educational environment where every student can thrive academically and personally.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in counseling or related field preferred Strong written and oral communication skills
Compensation and Working Conditions:
