Job Description

SUMMARY Supports and monitors the individually assigned student by working one-on-one assisting the student as needed throughout the day with their social, emotional, behavioral and academic growth.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function listed below: Assists the student in the areas of behavior management, instructional support, activities of daily living, social skills training, task redirection, etc.; as indicated in the student's IEP. Monitors and is in arms-length of the student at all times throughout the day; Documents students' daily activity every 15 minutes or every classroom period as directed by School Administration Mediates, counsel and instruct socially appropriate alternatives to negative and destructive behaviors; Works effectively with Teacher to resolve conflict situations for the assigned student; Provides feedback to the Teacher and Behavior Management Specialist Coordinator in the development and implementation of the behavioral IEP goals or Educational IEP goals depending on the need for the 1:1 aide or TBA (Therapeutic Behavioral Aide) for the assigned student; Assists student on educational field trips; and social outings during the school day Participates as a member of the school team and in all transitions involving the student Adheres to, Family Advocacy Services, LLC (FAS)/MENTOR and school policies and procedures; Establishes and maintains supportive working relationships within both the school and agency/Mentor Network and the broader community services network; Performs other related duties and activities as required.

None Required. Minimum Knowledge and Skills required by the Job The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required to perform the job:
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma from certified/accredited school; or AA degree/48 credit hours preferred A minimum of two years' experience working with students with emotional disabilities in a school setting on in the mental health field

Ability to establish good relationships with students and staff; Ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally; Positive role model; Ability to think and act quickly and calmly in emergency situations Ability to accurately document student's daily activities

Physical Requirements:
Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
