VICTIM ADVOCATE
(DVAP) Domestic Violence Assistance Programs. Lamoreaux Justice Center. Orange, CA. F/T, Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm.
Responsibilities Include:
Provide assistance to victims of domestic violence and elder abuse in obtaining restraining orders. Provide necessary services to assure immediate safety and long-term needs of the client and his/her dependents. Work in collaboration with law enforcement, court, and partner agencies.
Requirements Include:
Bachelor's Degree in behavioral science, criminal justice, or related field. Basic knowledge of the criminal justice system, family dynamics, sociological aspects of family violence and victimology. Two years of related experience working with people in a position involving the provision of victim services and/or peer counseling preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills. Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to the cultural/ethnic diversity of the service population and to be sensitive to the needs of special populations. In the first year of employment, must complete training for certification as a Sexual Assault Counselor as mandated by PC13835.10, and training as a certified Domestic Violence Counselor. Bilingual English/Spanish required.
