Job Description
SOAR School Counselor 2026-2027 School Year, Starts August 2026 SOAR is committed to providing excellent educational opportunities to students in Far Northeast Denver. SOAR offers a holistic approach to education that implements rigorous academic instruction in conjunction with an active classroom. Our model challenges students to think critically and take active roles in their classrooms and communities. This results in higher achievement and greater engagement in school. Our school gives students the academic and character-building skills they need as learners and leaders.

Purpose statement The school counselor at SOAR is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating a counseling program for grades K-5. The school counselor provides brief individual and group counseling, classroom presentations and consultation with families and staff to meet the social, emotional and academic needs of students and the larger school community. Essential Functions The school counselor consults with teachers, conducts classroom observations and assists in creating behavioral strategies and plans for students when needed. Delivers counseling services through classroom lessons, small groups, and individual counseling. Ensures that school and classroom environments support the development of social and emotional learning skills. Counsels students to help them understand and overcome personal, social, or behavioral challenges affecting their education. Counsels students to encourage and support student achievement in all SOAR domains. Assists with transitions into kindergarten and from 5th grade to middle school. Confers with parents or guardians, teachers, other school staff, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral, academic, and other problems, through the MTSS process. Provides crisis intervention to students and staff when difficult situations occur at schools, to include Suicide Risk Assessment, threat assessments. Maintains a high standard of confidentially in the area of staff and student privacy. Performs other duties as assigned based on the best interest of students. Qualifications Required- Bachelor's Degree Required
- Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) Required

Aurora Public Schools & Denver Public Schools Community Impact Bonus:
$3,000 per yearHealth & Wellness Stipend, Tution Assistance & Student Loan Repayment Programs Job Type:
Full-time Pay:
$60,000.00- $90,000.
