An Academic or Guidance Counselor provides guidance to students in elementary, middle and high schools to help them succeed academically and socially. Works with school teachers and administrators to address problems that affect student performance, and identifies resources for students and families. Helps high school students to plan academic course work and advises on the college search and application process.

Job Description
- Collaborate with Principal & Asst. Principal on strategic planning, enrichment, outreach, remediation & standardized testing.
- Provide individual counseling, as well as small group & classroom guidance activities.
- Work with a culturally & academically diverse student population with varying learning needs.
- Guide individuals & groups of students through the development of educational plans
- Communicate & exchange information with parents via conference & parent info.
- Consult with teachers, staff & parents regarding the developmental needs of students.
- Coordinate with the school's resource teachers as needed
- Participate in, coordinate & conduct activities that contribute to the effective operation of the counseling program & school.
