Job Description

Mater International Academy is a K-5 public charter school that promotes a cohesive learning environment to better educate the next generation to come. Our mission is to develop the intellectual, social, and bilingual skills of its students in a nurturing and safe environment, through innovative and creative teaching methods, thus producing lifelong learners who respect diversity. We are currently looking for a elementary school aftercare counselor to join our team for the 2026-2027 school year. Responsibilities Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of students during the aftercare program. Assist with homework completion by providing guidance and support as needed. Plan and supervise age-appropriate games, activities, and enrichment opportunities. Help maintain a positive, engaging, and inclusive environment for all students. Monitor student behavior and reinforce school-wide expectations and procedures. Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and school staff regarding student needs or concerns. Assist with student check-in and dismissal procedures, ensuring students are released only to authorized individuals. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe aftercare environment, including classrooms and activity areas. Organize, distribute, and care for aftercare supplies, materials, and equipment. Attend all required staff meetings, professional development sessions, and trainings. Perform other duties as assigned by the administration.
