Job Description

Ina A. Colen Academy is a tuition-free public charter school of choice located in the Calesa Township Community in Marion County, Florida. Founded in 2020, Ina A. Colen Academy serves students in kindergarten through 8th grade. Along with the school's mission to cultivate passionate learners in an inclusive school community in which individuality and empathy for other through collaboration and active learning, its passionate team of teachers has contributed to the achievement of a Grade "A" for three academic years in a row! The Ina A. Colen Academy is seeking a dedicated Middle School Guidance Counselor who is passionate about education and committed to helping students succeed. The ideal candidate is a professional educator, that possesses strong communication skills, both verbal and written, collaborates effectively with colleagues, parents/guardians, and other stakeholders and are dedicated to making a positive impact on school youth.
Essential Functions:
Provide individual and small group counseling to support students' academic, social, and emotional needs. Assist students with goal setting, problem-solving, and conflict resolution. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to support student success. Identify students needing additional support and coordinate appropriate referrals. Participate in student support meetings and contribute to intervention strategies. Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment. Maintain confidential student records in accordance with school policies. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in School Counseling, Guidance Counseling, or a related field. School counselor certification through the Florida Department of Education preferred. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Experience working with adolescents in a school or youth development setting preferred. Ability to pass an extensive background screening process
