Job Description

Local School needs a School Guidance Counselor to join our administrative staff. The successful candidate will divide his or her time equally between administrative tasks and providing students with guidance and support. He or she must always be available to students who need help with school work, social stress or other issues that might emerge during the school year. We run a supportive environment with low educator turn-over and high employee satisfaction. Guidance Counselor Responsibilities Assist school administrators and educators with planning and carrying out school-related programs and events Communicate with teachers, parents and administrators on an ongoing basis about behavioral and academic problems Help students develop academic plans in accordance with their skills, talents and strengths Implement and oversee a middle/high school guidance program that provides students with a safe and non-judgmental way to voice their concerns or worries Analyze student performance in the classroom to provide guidance and identify potential problems Learn students' names, career objectives and other details so you can better serve them Facilitate crisis intervention and prevention programs Work collaboratively with the school nurse and other supportive staff Handle disciplinary issues Transcripts, College Fairs, and Dual Enrollment Experience Testing Coordinator for New Students and IXL NHS Advisor Curriculum assistance Guidance Counselor skills Bachelor's Degree in Counseling, Social Work or related field Ability to balance administrative and support services efficiently 3+ years' experience in School Guidance Counselor role Excellent communication and organization skills Experience working with secondary students a plus Bachelors Degree required
