  • Full-time Kaʻōhao Public Charter School is seeking a qualified and compassionate Elementary School Counselor who is committed to supporting the social, emotional, and academic growth of students.
The ideal candidate will possess strong counseling skills, a collaborative mindset, and a genuine passion for building positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
Individual and Group Counseling:
Conduct individual and group counseling sessions with students to address personal, social, emotional, and behavioral concerns. Part of group counseling sessions to take place during T.E.A.M Time (Tuesday and Thursday from 8:45am to 9:30am.) Collaborate with students to develop strategies for managing challenges, building resilience, and enhancing self-esteem.
Crisis Intervention:
Provide immediate support and counseling to students during times of crisis or emergencies, such as grief, trauma, or incidents that affect the school community. Offer guidance and resources to students, parents, and staff members affected by the crisis.
Assessments and Referrals:
Coordinate school-wide universal SEL screeners to gather pre/post data (September and May) Make appropriate referrals to the Student Services Coordinator or external resources as needed.
Classroom Social-Emotional Learning:
Conduct classroom lessons on various topics, including character education, conflict resolution, bullying prevention, and social skills development. (grades K-2 twice a month, grades 3-6 once a month). Collaborate with teachers to integrate social-emotional learning into the curriculum as needed.
Parent and Teacher Collaboration:
Collaborate with parents and teachers to address student concerns and provide guidance on strategies for supporting student well-being. Conduct parent workshops and provide resources to parents on SEL issues.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and confidential student records, documenting counseling sessions, assessments, and interventions. Prepare reports as needed per requirements of school or state policies. 504
Care Coordinator:
Serve as the care coordinator for 504 meetings. Facilitate the 504 meetings, ensure proper documentation is completed and inputted for each meeting. Share 504 plans with staff members and parents. Pay and Benefits Full-time 10-month
