In this role, you will provide intensive, individualized counseling to help students navigate personal and emotional barriers that have historically impeded their academic success. You will act as a primary advocate for at-risk youth, guiding them through tailored learning plans and helping them explore college and career pathways. By collaborating with mental health partners and community agencies, you will ensure students have the resources needed for personal fulfillment. QUALIFICATIONS
As set by state certification standards Pass health examination Have no immoral or criminal history Have ability to work with other staff members, the community, parents and children
DUTIES:
Work with students on an individual basis in the solution of personal problems related to such problems as home and family relations, health, and emotional adjustment through personal counseling and referrals to appropriate community agencies Be available to deliver services to at-risk students Help students overcome problems that impede learning Assist in making educational, occupational, and life plans for their personal fulfillment as mature and responsible men and women including the development of an ILP Register students new to the school and orient them to school procedures and the school's varied opportunities for learning Aid students in course and subject selection (scheduling) Be involved in the maintenance of student records and protect their confidentiality Work with all students to address educational barriers Promote the identification and development of the special abilities of students i.e. SEA, 504, Gifted, IDEA, etc. Promote and encourage college and career readiness expectations to all students Provide student information to colleges and potential employers according to provisions of the Board's policy of student records Make recommendations to colleges for admissions and scholarships Obtain and disseminate occupational information to students and to classes studying occupations Help students explore career interests and post-secondary choices Work closely with the office of student services to meet non-educational needs of students Act as a liaison between school and community mental health partners Confer with parents/guardians Attend and/or chair 504, SEA, and ARC meetings as needed Set up college visitations and visit with military representatives Promote and explain the guidance program to the school community Fulfill role in assigned state assessment responsibilities Organize and distribute information to materials for special programs, scholarships, awards, honors, and other special recognitions Participate in Professional Development Training and complete required Administrative Leadership Training hours (EILA) Collaborate with community agencies and individuals Acquaint the professional staff with special services available Participate in staff development training programs Facilitate compliance with the employee evaluation system as appropriate Abide by all statutes, Kentucky Department of Education regulations and directives, policies of the Woodford County Board of Education, and administrative directives and procedures of the Superintendent in all matters relating to the position Adhere to Professional Code of Ethics applicable to the position Other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor Approved by the Woodford County Board of Education April 23 rd , 2018
