Aug 25, 2026 Job Description The BRYT Coordinator supports the BRYT Transition Program (Bridge for Resilient Youth in Transition) at GLTS within the School Counseling Department. This role provides academic, social-emotional, and transitional support for students returning to school after extended absences due to mental health, medical, or other significant challenges. Responsibilities include supporting students and families, developing transition plans, collaborating with school staff and community providers, assisting students with reintegration into classes and routines, and helping students stay on track academically toward credit completion and graduation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Proactively communicates with teachers of students in BRYT to identify and prioritize student work, ensuring completion of student work, with the goal of transitioning students back into GLTS classes. Develops and maintains tracking and progress management systems for students. Collaborates closely with School Adjustment Counselors//School Social Workers to address social and emotional needs and issues related to transitioning back to school. Implements individualized student plan, including class schedule and goals, which is developed by the School Adjustment Counselor/School Social Worker in conjunction with the student and family. Pro-actively communicates with the BRYT Clinical Coordinator, school counselors and the Director of Admissions & Counseling.. Creates a therapeutic classroom environment that is conducive to learning, respectful, and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students. Provides direct academic support and tutoring services to students. Assesses the progress of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required. Maintains a detailed record of student attendance, program participation and academic progress. Communicates effectively with all stakeholders and maintains clear documentation. Other responsibilities as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY & SKILL
Demonstrated interest in working with students struggling with complex medical and social-emotional challenges. Experience with at-risk students and urban school population preferred. An ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team, and a willingness and ability to be flexible and adaptable to rapidly changing circumstances.. Proficiency in Google Suite, Excel, Microsoft Word.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's degree required. Previous experience in an academic setting is preferred. Bachelor's Degree in Education, Counseling, Human Services, or Related field preferred. Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
