Aug 31, 2026 Job Description School Counselor (PreK-Grade 8) The School Counselor serves as an integral member of The Saints Academy community, supporting the academic, social, emotional, and spiritual growth of students in PreK through Grade 8. The counselor develops and implements a comprehensive school counseling program that promotes student success, fosters healthy relationships, and helps students develop the skills necessary to thrive both in and beyond the classroom. Working collaboratively with faculty, administration, families, and community partners, the School Counselor provides preventative education, responsive interventions, and individual student support while upholding the philosophy, values, teachings, and traditions of Catholic education and the mission of The Saints Academy. Ideal Candidate Will... Demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education. Build strong, trusting relationships with students across a wide range of developmental stages. Possess a deep understanding of child and adolescent development. Exhibit compassion, empathy, professionalism, and sound judgment. Communicate effectively with students, parents, faculty, and administrators. Work collaboratively as part of a team dedicated to supporting the whole child. Utilize proactive and preventative approaches to social-emotional learning and student wellness. Be skilled in conflict resolution, problem-solving, and crisis intervention. Maintain confidentiality while exercising appropriate professional discretion. Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and respect for the diverse backgrounds of students and families. Be organized, flexible, and capable of managing multiple responsibilities in a dynamic school environment.
