The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the emotional, social, and academic development of students. This position requires a strong commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive environment that promotes positive mental health and well-being among students. The School Counselor will work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and community resources to address the diverse needs of our student population. Responsibilities Provide individual and group counseling to students facing personal, social, or academic challenges. Educate students on topics related to mental health, emotional well-being, and conflict resolution. Develop and implement programs that promote behavioral health and cultural diversity counseling. Collaborate with teachers and staff to create supportive learning environments for all students. Assist in identifying students who may require additional support/community resources. Maintain accurate records of counseling sessions and student progress while ensuring confidentiality. Serve as a liaison between students, parents, and child protective services when necessary. Participate in school meetings, workshops, and professional development opportunities to enhance skills in childhood development and mental health counseling. Requirements A master's degree in School Counseling or a related field is required. Experience working with students in an educational setting is highly desirable. Strong understanding of behavioral health issues, childhood development principles, and informed trauma care. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations, including students from various cultural backgrounds. Knowledge of special education processes and resources available for students with disabilities. Familiarity with community resources related to mental health support and child protective services. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and staff. Commitment to promoting a safe and inclusive school environment for all students.
