POSITION
:
SCHOOL ADJUSTMENT COUNSELOR QUALIFICATIONS
: Masters Degree in social work or counseling (MSW preferred) Significant clinical experience with school-aged children Certified or certifiable as a School Adjustment Counselor by the Division of Youth Services Experience in individual, group & family counseling. Minimum of three years experience in a school and/or social service setting Thorough knowledge and understanding of all laws and school policies which govern student services.
REPORTS TO
: Coordinator of Ancillary Student Services Principal of assigned school
RESPONSIBILITIES
: Provide counseling to students in need, utilizing a variety of counseling modalities such as individual, group and family therapy as needed. Assist the building principal in all matters which pertain to student services, including the keeping of appropriate student records and the generation of any and all pertinent reports. Serve as the prime liaison between the school, the family, and the community Responsible for primary intervention in such areas as: Child abuse, teenage pregnancy, substance abuse, potential suicide, and other psychiatric emergencies and/or critical incidents which occur in the school yard. Provide coordination and referral services to social service agencies as needed. Work as part of a school team, under the direction of the principal, in developing appropriate in-school educational services for pupils. Completes all necessary documents to facilitate a referral for special needs services, and attends all meetings pertaining to children who are referred. Provides other pupil services as so directed by the building principal and/or the Coordinator of Ancillary Student Services.
SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
In accordance with the Fall River Administrators Association Contract. Employment is contingent on job performance, program needs, and funding. Salary ranges from $78,077
  • 120,094, Step 1-Step 12, Bachelor's to Doctorate's Degree.
