To Be Determined Job Description A About Arlington Elementary School Arlington Elementary School is a K-4 school serving a diverse student population, including many multilingual learners. We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment where all students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. As a school engaged in significant improvement efforts, Arlington is seeking educators who embrace feedback, value collaboration, and are committed to accelerating outcomes for all students. Staff participate in ongoing coaching, Common Planning Time (CPT), Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), and professional development focused on evidence-based practices. Position Summary The School Counselor provides comprehensive social-emotional, behavioral, and academic support services to students. The counselor partners with families, educators, and community agencies to promote student well-being, remove barriers to learning, and foster a positive school climate. Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and small-group counseling services to students.
  • Support students experiencing social-emotional, behavioral, attendance, or academic challenges.
  • Participate in crisis response, safety planning, and risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with families, teachers, administrators, and community providers to coordinate supports.
  • Facilitate student support meetings and contribute to MTSS, 504, and IEP processes, as appropriate.
  • Implement schoolwide social-emotional learning and prevention initiatives.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain required documentation.
  • Participate in CPT, PLCs, coaching cycles, and professional development. Qualifications Required
  • Massachusetts School Counselor License (PreK-8 or All Levels).
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to educational equity and student well-being. Preferred
  • Experience working in an elementary school setting.
  • Experience supporting multilingual learners and culturally diverse student populations.
  • Bilingual (Spanish-English) candidates encouraged to apply.
  • Experience with MTSS, restorative practices, and trauma-informed approaches.
