School counselors will spend majority (80%) of their time delivering developmentally appropriate activities and services directly to students or indirectly for students as a result of the school counselor's interaction with others. These activities and services help students develop mindsets & behaviors for success and improve student achievement, attendance and discipline. The remaining time (20%) will be spent program planning, managing, and assessing.

Creates a comprehensive school counseling program based on the American School Counselor National Model. Discusses the comprehensive school counseling program and program goals with the school administrator annually Develops and maintains a written plan for effective delivery of the school counseling program based on the ASCA National Model action plan and results reports templates with the use of current individual school data. Communicates the goals of the comprehensive school counseling program to education stakeholders. Maintains current and appropriate resources for education stakeholders. Direct Student Services:
Instruction:
Collaborates with other educators and administration to provide school-wide integration of the state Guidance Curriculum Standard Course of Study. Implements developmentally appropriate and prevention-oriented group activities to meet student needs and school goals. Appraisal and Advisement Assists all students, individually or in groups, with developing academic, career and personal/social skills, goals and plans. Accurately and appropriately interprets and utilizes student data. Counseling Provides individual and group counseling to students with identified concerns and needs.Indirect Student Services:
Consultation Provides appropriate information to staff related to the comprehensive school counseling program. Assists teachers, parents/guardians and other stakeholders in interpreting and understanding student data. Consults and collaborates effectively with parents/guardians, teachers, administrators and other educational/community resources regarding students with identified concerns and needs. Collaboration Collaborates with parents/guardians and educators to assist students with educational and career planning. Referral Implements an effective referral and follow-up process.Program Focus, Management, & Planning:
Identifies beliefs, vision, and mission statement for their comprehensive program Creates Annual Student Outcome Goals & Action Plans Uses individual school data and previous counseling program data to determine annual program goals. Accurately and appropriately uses assessment procedures for determining and structuring individual and group counseling services. Monitors student academic performance, behavior and attendance and assists with appropriate interventions. Tracks use of time and keeps annual and weekly calendar Participates in professional development activities to improve knowledge and skills. Assess To achieve the best results for students, school counselors regularly assess their program to: Determine its effectiveness Inform improvements to their school counseling program design and delivery Show how students are different as a result of the school counseling program Measures results of the school counseling program activities and shares results as appropriate Conducts the School Counseling Program Assessment and Annual Results Report Performs other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to communicate orally and in writing with parents, staff, and community leaders. Must have finger dexterity and be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of kneeling, sitting, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motion.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
