Easterseals Residential and Education program is a great place to make a difference in the lives of the youth we serve. We provide services to children ages 8-21 with neurological and or emotional psychological disabilities. We currently have an opening for a Guidance Counselor . The individual in this key position will promote and enhance student career development through academic, personal, and social growth through individual and school activities in Easterseals Educational Program.
Additional duties include:
Managing student records including transcripts and course selection to meet individual needs and goals. Conduct orientation activities for new students as assigned by the Director of Education. Assist students in mapping and developing an educational plan with the collaborative teams. Provide projects in collaboration with teachers that are tailored to each student's ability. Provide consultation to staff members regarding State Frameworks for Learning. Assist in preparing, ordering, and evaluating curriculum for courses. Provide students opportunities to explore post secondary options. Prepare exiting transcripts and letters of recommendations. Develop outline and description of courses that are designed to met the requirements of each students IEP and capitalize on students interest. Strong behavior management skills to manage classroom crisis situations. Keep accurate grade reports. Provide student advocacy and career counseling. Attend teacher meetings and other meetings as scheduled. Responsible for documentation and student reports as requested. Support and participate in the implementation and practice of Collaborative Problem Solving. Provide resources for teachers and families related to independent living, post graduate opportunities and community participation for students. Create and manage job shadowing and pre-employment skills training with assigned students.
Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Education or School Counseling Two (2) years + experience in education, particularly career planning and pre-employment Guidance Counselor Education certification Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

This is a full-time, salaried position.
