Moore Middle School Principal Salary:
$195 per day The School Counselor will provide comprehensive counseling services to middle school students in support of their academic achievement, social-emotional development, personal growth, and successful transition through the middle school years. The successful candidate will be a student-centered, collaborative, and compassionate professional who understands the unique developmental needs of adolescents. The counselor will work closely with students, families, teachers, administrators, and support staff to identify student needs, provide appropriate interventions, monitor progress, and connect students and families with appropriate resources. Essential Responsibilities The School Counselor will: Provide individual and small-group counseling to students based on identified needs. Support students experiencing academic, social, emotional, behavioral, peer, family, or school-related challenges. Develop positive and trusting relationships with students while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality. Monitor student academic progress, attendance, behavior, and other indicators of student success. Assist students in developing academic goals, organizational skills, study habits, decision-making skills, and problem-solving strategies. Support students with course selection, academic planning, transition planning, and preparation for high school. Conduct classroom guidance lessons addressing age appropriate topics such as:
- Conflict resolution
- Bullying prevention
- Peer relationships
- Decision-making
- Self-advocacy
- Goal setting
- Stress management
- Personal responsibility
- Digital citizenship
- Career and postsecondary awareness Facilitate individual and group interventions for students requiring additional support.
Collaborate with teachers, administrators, the Student Assistance Coordinator, school psychologist, social worker, CST, school nurse, and other student support personnel. Participate in intervention and problem-solving teams as appropriate. Collaborate with parents/guardians to address student academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs. Maintain accurate and confidential counseling records and documentation. Make appropriate referrals to school-based and community-based resources when additional services are needed. Participate in crisis response and follow established district procedures for students experiencing significant concerns. Support the development of a positive, inclusive, and respectful school climate. Assist with prevention and intervention initiatives addressing bullying, substance use, attendance, student conflict, and other concerns affecting student success. Participate in IEP, 504, intervention, and student support meetings when appropriate. Monitor students receiving counseling or other interventions and communicate relevant progress with appropriate school personnel and families. Assist with student transitions between elementary school, middle school, and high school. Maintain professional knowledge through professional development and current research related to adolescent development, school counseling, and student support. Perform other duties as assigned by the building Preferred Experience Preference may be given to candidates with: Previous middle school counseling experience. Experience implementing a comprehensive school counseling program. Experience facilitating student groups. Experience supporting students with IEPs and 504 Plans. Experience with MTSS/intervention systems. Experience addressing attendance concerns and student engagement. Experience with restorative practices and conflict resolution. Experience working with families and community-based agencies. Experience using student data to identify trends and develop interventions Professional Expectations The successful candidate will: Build Relationships. Help students develop the skills necessary to navigate the academic, social, and emotional challenges of adolescence. Support School Culture. Contribute to a positive school climate where students feel safe, connected, respected, and empowered.
