Job Summary:
Sullivan County BOCES is seeking a dedicated Early College Program Guidance Counselor to provide comprehensive counseling services to students in our early college initiative. This role involves acting as a liaison between the college and local school districts, coordinating student registration with participating colleges, supporting recruitment efforts, designing student activities with the college to foster a sense of belonging for students, and addressing the diverse needs of students in a dynamic educational environment. This position will require travel between BOCES, the college, and participating schools.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide individualized counseling to students, focusing on their academic, social, and emotional needs.
Serve as a liaison between the college and multiple school districts, fostering collaborative relationships to support student success.
Coordinate registration processes with participating colleges to ensure students are enrolled in appropriate courses and programs.
Work closely with school districts to recruit future students through presentations and one-on-one student visits.
Respond to daily issues and unanticipated crises during the school day, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
Coordinate and facilitate student recognition ceremonies, celebrating student achievements and milestones.
Perform other duties as assigned by administration to support the overall mission of Sullivan County BOCES.
Requirements:
Valid New York State School Counselor Certification.
Demonstrated understanding of the instructional and social needs of students.
Ability to design and implement in-school prevention programs based on current best practices.
Proven ability to manage a regular counseling schedule while effectively triaging crises.
Strong organizational skills to prioritize multiple competing urgent tasks.
Excellent interpersonal skills
