The Restorative Practice Teacher plays a key role in promoting a positive school climate by implementing restorative approaches to behavior management, conflict resolution, and relationship building. This role supports students, staff, and families in creating a culture of empathy, accountability, and community where everyone feels heard, valued, and respected.
Key Responsibilities:
Restorative Practice Facilitation:
Lead restorative conversations, circles, and conferences to address conflict, harm, or behavioral incidents. Facilitate proactive restorative circles to build relationships and strengthen classroom/school community. Support staff in embedding restorative language and practices in their day-to-day interactions with students.
Student Support & Engagement:
Work one-on-one or in small groups with students involved in conflict or disciplinary issues to guide them through restorative processes. Provide emotional and behavioral support to students, promoting accountability and reparation. Monitor and evaluate student progress following restorative interventions.
Staff Training & Collaboration:
Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and administrators to promote a consistent, school-wide restorative approach. Deliver or support professional development on restorative practices to staff. Model effective use of restorative practices and assist staff in integrating these into their classroom management strategies.
Family & Community Engagement:
Engage families in the restorative process when appropriate, ensuring transparency and collaboration. Serve as a liaison between the school and community partners that support restorative justice and student wellbeing.
Data, Evaluation & Reporting:
Maintain records of restorative interventions and outcomes. Analyze trends and outcomes to inform school policy and practice. Contribute to evaluations of behavior and engagement policies.
Qualifications:
Appropriate PDE certification
