Immediately Job Description A vacancy exists for a School Counselor for the Norristown Online Academy (asynchronous classroom) starting the 2026-2027 School Year. This position will assist students in a virtual setting while working from a NASD building. This position will be for the full school year.
Qualifications:
PA Certification in Guidance and Counseling Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations Ability to write reports and business correspondence Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
Duties and Responsibilities:
Participates in all NOA Interest Meetings as a part of the decision-making team for NOA enrollment, meet with the MVP Team to discuss programming and student concerns. Registers students into MVP and monitors rolling admission with appropriate drop/add events. Maintains enrollment list of all NOA students. Schedule NOA courses for all students in Infinite Campus. Enter grades at appropriate marking period intervals, and send midterm and marking period reports. Tracks and enters quarterly and final grades according to the
NASD GPA
calculator (sometimes converting MVP assigned grades to district requirements) to be entered into district SIS. Meets with family and students to support academic, social, and emotional needs. Identify student's individual academic and transition needs, while partnering with College and Career Counselor to support the use of Naviance and Collegeboard as applicable as well as tracking artifacts for Ch 339 compliance. Establishes a graduation plan with courses outlined for each year. (This may entail transcript retrieval from other schools and programs as necessary). Facilitates communication of District news/events with students/families. Partner with Special Education teachers to support academic, social and mental health needs of students with IEPs. Partners with customization of courses for student success. Ensure that all MVP supports are available to students/families. Conduct in-person and virtual conferences during assigned district conference dates. Monitor students on daily/weekly/monthly intervals and meet in-person or virtually. Support and monitor student attendance and complete Student Attendance Improvement Plans when necessary. Meet with high school students and/or families for course selection. Other duties as assigned.
