Our College Counselor and School Social Worker connects students with the academic, college-readiness, and personal support they need to graduate ready for what's next. Responsibilities Monitor student academic performance, behavior, attendance, and social-emotional well-being, connecting students to appropriate supports as needed Serve as liaison between students, parents, and teachers on academic, behavioral, and social-emotional matters Provide brief individual or small-group counseling and support during crisis situations Guide students through the college process, including applications, financial aid, and College Board requirements Coordinate referrals to outside agencies and community resources as needed Attend key grade-level and student support meetings Who you are You possess an unwavering belief that our students are capable of success, and you both exude and cultivate the values of equity, love, critical thinking, and diversity at the heart of Freire Wilmington. Minimum requirements School Counseling or School Social Work Certification (DE) Positive attitude, sense of humor, and a whatever-it-takes mindset when it comes to supporting students Demonstrated success working with and building trust among urban youth and their families Strong communication, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills Experience with Naviance and College Board strongly preferred Pay and benefits We offer a competitive salary based on your experience and qualifications.
