Full Job Description Job Purpose:
The College Counselor helps the Director of College Counseling successfully manage everything within the college planning scope by helping to coordinate appointments, answer emails, submit documents and schedule meetings while regularly interacting with parents and students. In this regard, the College Counselor plays a vital role in helping to maintain the reputation of DSA as a college prep academy that offers individualized attention to students and parents. Growth Mindset Live Boldly and Confidently Responsibilities:
Provides personalized counseling services to 9th grade students. This includes at least one check in with each student to provide academic and college counseling. Aids counselor in submitting recommendations and school reports for seniors through Cialfo. Aids counselor in completing and uploading all School Reports and Mid-Year Reports requested by colleges, including evaluations of students. Assists with first-day orientation presentations to all high school students. Assists the Director of College Counseling with presentations for parents and students each year by grade level (9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade) for the purpose of providing general information about what students should do each year to be adequately prepared for college. Schedules and manages college counseling calendar. Maintains and disseminates information about standardized tests such as SAT,ACT, and TOEFL, helping to administer AP and PSAT exams. Serves as AP Coordinator and Testing Coordinator. Responsible for ordering and tracking fee waivers, all AP Tests, holding pre-administration sessions, creating AP testing schedule and room assignments and proctoring AP tests. Also schedules and coordinates the following: PSAT Test Prep and testing coordinator SAT/ACT Diagnostic Test Mock SAT/ACT Serves as AP Administrator. Approves all AP course syllabus' and makes sure all AP course requirements are met. Serves as the coordinator of summer programs at various colleges by helping students complete and submit all required application materials and recommendations. Facilitates/schedules meetings between students and college or university representatives. Works with the Registrar to maintain records for 9th graders, including GPA's and transcripts. Coordinates and organizes 11th and 12th grade college trip(s). Assists with all types of data entry related to college counseling. Communicates with 12th grade students regarding deposits, orientations, final transcripts, etc. Communicates college counseling department items that need to be included in The Academy Dispatch. Adds and manages tasks on Cialfo. Manage x2Vol database and all high school service/volunteer hours. Maintains and updates college rep database. Serves as contact for college representatives to schedule visits. Takes pictures and creates content of Senior acceptances for social media. Requirements Bachelor's Degree Excellent communication skills Comfortable giving presentations and dealing with students and parents Qualifications Communicates effectively, excellent interpersonal skills Independent worker, self-motivated Takes initiative and has good problem solving skills Excellent multi tasking skills, able to successfully fulfill various roles and added responsibilities which sometimes may include covering high school classes.
