Position Location:
Office of Career and Technical Education/Workforce Development, Gordon Persons Building, Montgomery, Alabama Open Date:
September 2025 The Office of Career and Technical Education/Workforce Development Section, intends to fill one (1) Education Specialist position. Duties will include, but will not be limited to the following: Promotes and practices teamwork within the Career and Technical Education section so that productivity increases, client needs are addressed, and solutions to problems are initiated and followed up as appropriate at CTE staff and Family and Consumer Sciences meetings. Facilitates the CTE program quality evaluation process, so that assigned programs with review dates during the school year receive a desk audit and an on-site review; and ensures that programs receive the technical assistance necessary to clear deficiencies (including documentation of technical assistance for all programs in improvement status) as evidenced by TA reports and appropriate documentation. Manages logistics for the annual FCCLA state leadership conference, including STAR event competitions. Actively engages in the Course of Study (COS) implementation and Plans of Instruction (POI) processes for Family and Consumer Sciences. Provides actionable feedback, meets deadlines, and communicates effectively with committee members. Designs and delivers professional development activities to enhance the quality of Family and Consumer Sciences programs and increase awareness of CTE initiatives. Collaborate with stakeholders to organize the annual CTE conference, credentialing updates, and technical assistance sessions. Serves as a content expert by researching and developing relevant curricula and resources for the Education and Training and Human Services clusters. Provides leadership in creating and revising educational materials such as Equipment Lists, Plans of Instruction, and Course of Study related materials. Organize and conduct CTE-TCP and CTE 101 sessions for Family and Consumer Sciences teachers, including session content planning, and professional development. Oversee the Future Teachers of Alabama (FTA) Grant by writing annual application and official memo, managing documentation, and ensuring timely payments. Attends AEA FTA events, supports advisors, and fosters strategic partnerships with postsecondary institutions to enhance recruitment and program awareness. Performs other duties as assigned.
