Job Description:
Under administrative direction from the Associate Director, Student Engagement, this position will assist in developing, implementing, and assessing a comprehensive plan for career readiness and professional development focused on student retention and success across multiple campuses. This position will foster student engagement, develop student leadership skills, and develop a sense of identity and pride within the college, the campus, and the community.
Salary:
$51,500 - $58,000; Depends on experience
Essential Duties:
Career Readiness includes career services and professional development, internships, work+, undergraduate research, study abroad, etc.
Student Clubs and Organizations:
Serves as liaison to academically related student clubs and organizations to help support student involvement in the college, coordinating meetings with the dean, develop and implement a student leader training, and serve as a source to the leadership of the organizations. Serves as support for the Edson College Council. Marketing and outreach (newsletter, college box): oversee the development and management of online student communications via student newsletters, message boards, student website, as well as occasional print media (including Sun Devil Central and College Box). Event planning including college & university-wide engagement programs. Details include communication, room reservations, marketing, logistics, food, etc. Coordinate with university partners to develop, promote, and run various events and workshops designed to support engagement and retention initiatives across multiple campuses. Connect students with academic and personal resources including, but not limited to: tutoring, counseling and career services; provide follow up to ensure satisfaction with and effectiveness of services. Utilize a variety of university data and programmatic direction to promote student academic success. This position will include supervision of student staff and may include supervision of a management intern position. Conducts interviews, hiring, and onboarding of student staff. Work under limited or minimal supervision, handle problems, provide guidance and advice to students. Creates and coordinates alumni-specific programming for student populations in collaboration with Edson College alumni liaison. Serves as the departmental or college lead in meetings or at events in the absence of the Associate Director, Student Engagement. Develops and implements participation in signature community events hosted on campus. Develops and implements programming for incoming students, such as summer yield events and Edson College transfer welcome. Regular activities require the ability to change priorities quickly, may include/subject to resolution of conflicts. Communicate to develop materials in various media and provide reports in various formats (electronic, hard-copy, etc.), in addition to coordinating and presenting information to groups of varied sizes and composition. Work with students, staff, faculty, and university administrators in a higher education/university atmosphere, both one-on-one and in group/class settings, in-person and via phone and email. Other duties as assigned.
Unique Assignments:
Coordinates and plans annual health-related internship/opportunity fair in collaboration with College of Health Solutions and Career Services. Under the direction of the Associate Director, Student Engagement, responsible for co-coordination of HCR 484 Internship course.

Desired Qualifications:
Evidence of a Master's Degree. Student case management experience. Experience planning, coordinating, and marketing collaborative student engagement events: preference given to academically focused events to related undergraduate student and retention programs and events. Experience facilitating courses and/or presenting to large groups. Experience with technology including Salesforce, PowerPoint, Canvas, Peoplesoft or similar technology. Experience working with residential college (living/learning) communities. Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. Experience in maintaining attention to detail while prioritizing multiple tasks in a fast-paced, service-focused, team-based environment. Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions. Understanding of principles and best practices of student retention, specifically the first-year experience. Knowledge and understanding of barriers to student success. Knowledge of management and supervisory practices. Ability to plan, coordinate, and implement programming with minimal supervision. Strong skills in problem-solving and decision-making. Skills in effectively managing, supervising, and evaluating assigned staff/student staff. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Ability to work effectively in an environment subject to rapidly changing priorities and time constraints.
Working Environment:
Frequent physical demands may include lift/transport approximately 30 pounds (medium) of promotional/marketing materials. This position is full-time, and the incumbent must be available Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm. The primary work location is the Downtown Phoenix campus, but a presence on other campus locations in the Phoenix metropolitan area during any given week/weekend may be required.
