Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Independent Living Skills (ILS) Trainer to provide services for a man in Cloverdale. Independent Living Skills (ILS) Trainers play a vital role in empowering individuals with developmental disabilities to achieve greater independence and participate fully in their communities. ILS Trainers work one-on-one to teach, model, and support the development of essential life skills tailored to each service recipient's needs and goals. Responsibilities include monitoring clients and providing hands-on instruction in areas such as budgeting, meal preparation, household management, transportation, self-advocacy, and social skills. ILS Trainers maintain accurate documentation of progress, collaborate with case managers, families, and other professionals, and advocate for their clients' needs and preferences. They are expected to build trusting relationships, respect confidentiality, and promote a person-centered approach at all times. The position may require travel within the community. Duties Deliver individualized training sessions focused on daily living skills such as personal hygiene, cooking, budgeting, and transportation. Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including grooming, dressing, meal preparation, and medication management. Support behavioral health needs by implementing behavior management strategies and promoting positive social interactions. Collect and document data related to client progress, skill acquisition, and behavioral changes to ensure effective program planning. Utilize communication skills, including American Sign Language if applicable, to facilitate understanding and engagement with diverse clients. Provide transportation support by driving clients safely to community activities, appointments, or outings as needed. Collaborate with families, caregivers, and multidisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive care plans that promote client independence. Requirements Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. a commitment to supporting the independence and empowerment of people with disabilities. Experience in direct service, education, or human services is preferred. Successful candidates demonstrate patience, adaptability, and cultural competence in working with diverse populations. Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and clean driving record for transportation duties. Certiifcation in CPR/First Aid. Background check required.
