Monday through Friday, from 830am to 5pm including one late shift 1230pm to 9pm. Overview:
About Program Recovery Education Institute (REI) provides Peer Workforce Development Services to individuals and their family members within Orange County's Behavioral Health Services system of care, supporting recovery, educational advancement, and pathways to meaningful employment in the Behavioral Health Field. The Success Coach provides academic coaching and mentorship to students enrolled in courses offered at the Recovery Education Institute (REI). The Success Coach models self-efficacy, self-advocacy, and para-professionalism; provides strength-based peer-to-peer support and/or self-help services to students and encourages students to work with the REI Academic Advisors to set and achieve their educational and vocational goals. The Success Coach assists the REI team to develop and implement classes and workshops that focus on wellness, recovery, and independent living skills.
Responsibilities:
Utilizes "lived experience" to provide coaching to train, and support students to acquire and achieve life skills, employment readiness and recovery-centered skills. Develops and facilitates wellness, employment readiness recovery-centered workshops and trainings. Collaborates with the REI team, to develop policies and procedures concerning lived experience, wellness and recovery. Delivers student evaluation surveys, gathers evaluation data and measures outcomes. Develops and implements effective strategies to engage students in higher learning and participate in REI's educational and pre-vocational courses. Collaborates with REI academic advisors and faculty members to encourage students to act as self-advocates for researching and accessing educational opportunities within their communities, touring college campuses and interviewing at and/or applying to the college(s) of their choice. Conducts student recruitment, registration, and retention efforts. Conducts class/workshop orientations for new and continuing students. Encourages and supports each student's individual strengths, interests, skills and talents using a recovery-focused and strength-based approach. Links students to community resources, peer-focused and peer-run supportive services/programs. Coaches and assists students to effectively communicate and address their questions and/or concerns with REI's leadership, academic advisors, faculty instructor and faculty adjuct members as needed. Delivers pre-approved high-quality educational and employment readiness curriculum trainings to students. Contributes to program and training curriculum development related to recovery and peer-focused services. Regularly attends staff meetings, participates in community outreach and promotes REI's program services in the community. Adheres to all agency and program policies and procedures. Maintains compliance standards in accordance with HIPAA, State, County and organizational guidelines to ensure client confidentiality, protected health information (PHI) and quality of care. Maintains appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics in accordance with Pacific Clinics policies and procedures. Models Pacific Clinics' approach, mission, and core values in all communication and correspondence. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. B.A. degree in Human Services, Psychology or related field and one (1) year of relevant experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience (two years of relevant experience equals one year of education) Certified as a Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist may be required by the program. Individual or family member of individual who has relevant experience with mental/behavioral health condition or the mental health system. Bi-lingual proficiency in English and Spanish, Vietnamese, Korean, Farsi or Arabic depending on the program and/or area served. Flexible work schedule to include occasional evenings, weekends and holidays. Must know or quickly acquire extensive knowledge of local community resources.
