Job Description

FLSA Status - Nonexempt Hourly Wage - $27.34 Summary Atlantis Community Inc. has been advocating for people with disabilities for 50 years. Atlantis serves a seven county catchment area (Adams, Arapahoe, Clear Creek, Denver, Douglas, Elbert, and Jefferson Counties). As a Center for Independent Living, we support the rights of people with disabilities to direct their own lives by providing advocacy, life skills training, transition services (youth, from nursing homes, and diversions from institutions), information and referral, and peer support. The mission of Atlantis is to advocate for all people with disabilities to be a meaningful part of an integrated community of their choice. The Learning Center Specialist supports the Manager of The Learning Center and is responsible for the day-to-day coordination and operation of The Learning Center. This position helps ensure that the Learning Center is welcoming, organized, accessible, and ready for participants, staff, instructors, and community partners. The position coordinates schedules and activities; supports participant intake, communication, and follow-up; prepares materials and spaces; maintains accurate records; assists with workshops and learning activities; and promptly communicates operational needs, concerns, and service trends. This position reports to the Learning Center Manager. To be successful in this role, the Specialist must be dependable, organized, responsive, and comfortable managing multiple daily priorities. The role requires strong participant-service, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills; the ability to work collaboratively under the direction of the Manager; and a commitment to the Independent Living Philosophy, accessibility, inclusion, and consumer-directed services. We need to mention that this is a grant supported position and annual renewal is contingent upon continued funds. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Daily Learning Center Operations - 35% Maintaining a caseload of Learning Center participants, including services, progress, follow-up, creating and maintaining independent living goals, and documentation. Coordinate the daily opening, operation, organization, and closing readiness of The Learning Center in accordance with established procedures. Maintain the daily calendar for workshops, appointments, classes, meetings, and use of shared Learning Center spaces. Prepare rooms, equipment, technology, supplies, handouts, and accessible materials for scheduled activities. Monitor routine supply and equipment needs, maintain organized inventories, and submit requests to the Manager in a timely manner. Identify and address routine operational issues within established procedures and promptly escalate safety, accessibility, technology, participant, or facility concerns to the Manager. Support a welcoming, accessible, trauma-informed, and consumer-directed environment for participants and visitors. Participant Services and Support - 30% Welcome participants and visitors, respond to routine questions, explain available Learning Center activities, and connect individuals with the appropriate staff member or resource. Support participant intake, registration, scheduling, reminders, attendance, and follow-up using approved processes and forms. Assist participants with accessing learning activities, technology, materials, and reasonable accommodations within the scope of the position. Maintain professional boundaries, protect confidentiality, and communicate urgent needs or concerns to the appropriate staff member.

Workshops, Activities, and Resource Coordination - 20% Assisting with implementing, reviewing, and revising curriculum, workshops, activities, and participant materials. Communicating with outside partners regarding participant services, referrals, program information, and Learning Center activities. Assist staff, instructors, and partners with the delivery of workshops, classes, demonstrations, and participant activities. Coordinate registrations, participant communications, attendance materials, room setup, accessibility checks, evaluations, and post-activity follow-up. Help maintain and update participant handouts, resource lists, calendars, and other Learning Center materials as directed by the Manager. Gather participant feedback and share recurring needs, barriers, and improvement opportunities with the Manager. Support outreach activities and special events as assigned, including preparation, logistics, and participant communication. Documentation and Administrative Support - 15% Enter and maintain timely, accurate participant, service, attendance, referral, and activity information in approved systems. Organize electronic and paper records in accordance with confidentiality, retention, and organizational requirements. Compile routine activity information and documentation for the Manager's review, including attendance, service activity, participant feedback, supply needs, and operational issues. Support routine purchasing, invoice, mileage, scheduling, and other administrative processes in accordance with organizational procedures. Participate in team meetings, training, program review, and continuous-improvement activities, and complete other related duties as assigned. Essential Qualifications Experience providing customer service, participant support, program support, administrative support, or similar day-to-day operational assistance in a youth or young adult space. Ability to coordinate schedules, activities, materials, supplies, and shared spaces with consistent attention to detail. Strong written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to maintain accurate and timely records and protect confidential information. Ability to follow established procedures, work independently on routine responsibilities, and seek guidance when an issue is outside the position's authority or experience. Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing daily needs. Ability to use standard workplace technology, including email, calendars, word processing, spreadsheets, virtual meeting platforms, and electronic documentation systems. Commitment to the Independent Living Philosophy, accessibility, consumer direction, and respectful service to people with disabilities. Ability to work effectively with people with disabilities and individuals from diverse and historically marginalized communities. Relevant professional or lived experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience sufficient to perform the position's duties. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in disability services, Independent Living, workforce development, education, community programming, or human services. Experience supporting workshops, classes, events, resource centers, community spaces, or participant-facing programs. Experience with participant intake, scheduling, attendance tracking, information and referral, or service documentation. Familiarity with accessibility practices, reasonable accommodations, and disability rights. Personal or professional experience with disability and knowledge of the Independent Living Philosophy. Education and Experience Relevant experience supporting daily program operations, participants, customers, community activities, or administrative functions is required. An equivalent combination of education, training, lived experience, volunteer experience, and employment experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential duties will be considered. Physical Demands Ability to remain in a stationary position for periods of approximately 30-60 minutes, with opportunities to change position as needed. Ability to move throughout the Learning Center, office, and community spaces and to use standard office and program equipment. Ability to prepare learning spaces and handle routine program materials and supplies, with assistance or reasonable accommodation as needed. Ability to travel to community locations, meetings, or events as required. Ability to work in office, community, and virtual environments. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Compensation/Benefits Hourly wage- $27.34 ICHRA Medical Plans with ACI paying 100% of base premium for the employee with buy-up options available, and a Health Reimbursement of up to $500.00/Month to assist with dependent medical coverage Employer-paid Life and Short-Term/Long Term Disability Insurance Paid Time Off Mileage Reimbursement Paid Holidays 4-day workweek Important Notes This position is grant-funded and currently guaranteed through July 31, 2027. Information:
This position is full time, and fully benefited. Hours are 32/week. Office hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:30am-5:00pm. Schedules will be set between those times. The office closes from 12:00pm - 12:30pm for lunch daily.
