The annual salary for this position is $60,500 and may be up to 5% higher depending on relevant experience, education, and certifications when compared to others doing substantially similar work. This position is grant-funded.Job Summary:
The Upward Bound Recruitment and Retention Coach focuses on recruitment and retention of program participants. The Coach serves as a part of the Upward Bound professional team in coordinating and facilitating enrichment workshops and activities embracing leadership, career, college preparation and cultural diversity.Duties & Responsibilities:
Essential Functions- Oversees the recruitment and retention efforts for the TRIO Upward Bound grant by coordinating presentations and providing information on program requirements to target school principals, counselors, teachers, students and parents in order to actively recruit and retain program participants for the program.
- Develop curriculum, coordinates and facilitates workshops and seminars for participants to gain skills and knowledge in career fields, leadership, character development, financial literacy, lifelong learning, cultural diversity, transfer and articulation agreements, career planning, and college preparation.
- Remains current on best practices and new strategies to ensure participant retention.
- Initiates and coordinates student advising process for all new and continuing TRIO UB students.
- Advises and informs students and parents on: o Program requirements o Student's academic history and college readiness assessments o Student's academic goals o Student's progress meeting program requirements o Student's career goals
- Assist with the planning, coordinating and facilitation of academic and summer program components for participants as outlined in grant.
- Prepares and maintains accurate accounting records for all expenditures requested in for advisement, recruitment and retention and service-learning activities provided to UBMS participants and ensures that guidelines outlined in the federal TRIO program regulations, EDGAR, OMB Super Circular, and procedures set by CCCS and PCC are strictly followed.
- Coordinates, facilitates, and serves as staff chaperone and supervisor during college campus visits, service-learning events, cultural enrichment activities, and summer residential and non-residential programming provided to program participants both in-state and out-of-state.
- Assists with outreaches to grant stakeholder programs to eliminate duplication of services to ensure participants have access to additional opportunities to enhance knowledge and skill levels.
- Establishes, coordinates, and maintains contact with area high schools, colleges, universities and community partners to build strong, positive working relationships and partnerships to effectively provide intentional and intrusive advising services for all UBMS participants.
- Assists
TRIO UBMS
staff interview, evaluate, and select qualified participants for the program.- Manages grant data bases by entering student and program advising data into the Student Access database.
- Assists with the longitudinal data collection for reporting in the Annual Performance Report for submission to the United States Department of Education for all current and prior participants.
- Prepares and presents monthly statistical student and program data for staff meetings and quarterly reports for Grant Partner Steering Committee reporting purposes and real-time decision making.
- Participates in community or professional organizations in support of TRIO Upward Bound Program students, parents, objectives, and partnerships.
- Manages TRIO Upward Bound Student Advisory Council and all activities associated with the club.
- Supervises, trains, and evaluates performance of student and non-student hourly employees including instructors, tutors, and front office staff. Additional Functions

- Complies with State Fiscal Rules, State Board policies, System and College protocols, and departmental procedures.
- Obtains and maintains proficiency with required systems and equipment.
- Maintains confidentiality of student and employee information as required.
- Completes all required compliance training within the established timeline.
- Serves on committees and other groups as assigned.
Competencies/KSAs:
- Knowledge of laws, accreditation standards
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; working knowledge of Ellucian Banner
- Able to lift 15 pounds.
- Able to read and communicate in English.
- Mobility around campus.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education- Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution. Experience
- At least two years of experience in academic advising of disadvantaged first-generation high school students.
- Knowledge of and experience with secondary education systems, including transition and retention issues.
- Experience delivering one-on-one and group presentations.
- Experience gathering and analyzing statistical data.
- Experience working with diverse populations. Travel
