The University of Miami School of Communication has an exciting opportunity for a full time Manager, Programs (Career Services and Internships) to work in Coral Gables, FL. The Manager, Programs will develop and coordinate internship, professional development and career opportunities for School of Communication students. Interact with alumni and industry employers in communication and media.
Department Specific Functions:
Work with alumni, parents, and media representatives to develop internships for the School of Communication students Manage relationships with internship providers, place students, and work with faculty to help evaluate the quality of internships Plan seminars and workshops on matters relating to career and professional development (resume building, cover letter assistance, general professional development) Plan networking events for students and employers Coordinate visits from potential employers Manage the School's Career Connection website of job and internship opportunities Create and send weekly e-mails on new opportunities available to students and alumni via the School's Weekly Wire Work closely with faculty and student organizations to promote career development activities, including course presentations on the career services office Support various career-enhancing opportunities hosted by other areas of the university. Serve as a resource to alumni looking for employment. Serve as advisor for the Dean's Student Circle Peer Mentoring program. Provide campus tours to prospective students and their families and assist in recruitment efforts. Create and send out annual SoC Alumni Survey Collect and track data regarding alumni professional activity Other duties as assigned This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities as necessary. Core Qualifications Bachelor's degree Minimum four years of relevant work experience; at least one year in academic setting Ability to communicate well with students, alumni, parents, and industry professionals Ability to work independently with moderate to low supervision Knowledge of computerized information systems. Knowledge of MS Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Basic design skills for outreach materials, both electronic and print Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
