Position:
Carrollton Public Schools is seeking a passionate and student-centered Career and College Advisor who will play a vital role in helping students successfully prepare for life beyond high school. This position reflects our district's commitment to building a culture of belonging, strengthening community connections, and ensuring that every student is supported, valued, and empowered to pursue their chosen post-secondary pathway. The Career and College Advisor will guide students and families through college, vocational, apprenticeship, and military pathways while helping them access critical resources such as FAFSA, scholarships, and local, state, and federal funding opportunities. A strong emphasis will be placed on supporting low-income students, first-generation college students, minority students, and other special populations to ensure equitable access to post-secondary success. Ed Boell, Carrollton High School Principal and Jill Waliczek, Omni High School Principal Compensation:
170 school days at $20 per hour, 7 hours a day (partially grant funded and supplemented by the Carrollton Public School District) Single benefits package. This position is supported through a grant from the Saginaw Community Foundation.
Essential Job Functions:
Collection of data in regard to program acceptance, enrollment, and completion. Actively participate in the ISD's College-Career Access Network. Participate in, and gain knowledge and guidance from the Michigan College Access Network. (MCAN) Schedule and facilitate building visits for military recruiters, trade unions, community agencies, and college admission representatives. Plan and execute events for Michigan College Month. Plan and execute campus tours and college/career fairs. Assist students with the completion of college and vocational applications and scholarships. Plan and coordinate FAFSA Night(s) to assist parents and students with completing the Federal Application for Student Aid. Tuition Incentive Program (TIP) (Plan and prepare document meetings with individual students and parents to educate all on the TIP program). College entrance test preparation (Federal, State, and Local) and daily support. Assist students in developing their EDPs using Xello/Career Cruising. Work collaboratively with
CHS / OHS
staff for classroom visits surrounding college and career informational learning experiences. Maintain and collect data on students in order to track college admissions, scholarship awards, as well as completion of various pre-graduation tasks. Plan/Prepare/Oversee our "Decision Day Event." Coordinating and assisting with other high school academic events (Freshman orientation, Meet the Teachers, Parent/Teacher Conferences, Saginaw Community Foundation Scholarship Banquet, Candlelight, Graduation). Provide information for college and careers through various outlets (Facebook, Instagram, Email, School Signs, Thrillshare, etc.) Cultivate partnerships with community resources and representatives.
Job Qualifications:
High School Diploma Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field is preferred. Knowledge of the college application process, FAFSA, and career opportunities for a diverse population of students. Experience working with students, as well as at-risk students, is preferred. Able to work as part of a team. Familiar with CTE programs. Possess the ability to connect with students in grades 9-12. Be driven to build new programs from the ground up and help our students succeed with their post-secondary plans. Experience in interpreting data and making data-based decisions. Ability to prioritize and complete self-guided projects. Ability to communicate well with others verbally and in writing. Experience with Microsoft Excel and Google programs (Docs, Sheets, Forms) Must satisfactorily pass: ? Must receive a satisfactory response to 4205-F Authorization for Release of Information and Employee History Check Under 1996 P.A.189 of 1996; MCL380.1230b. ? Law enforcement background checks with fingerprinting. ? Personal and professional reference background check.
