Work Schedule for a Full-Time Career Specialist This position is full-time Monday through Friday during the school year with flexibility during the summer. A Day in the Life of a Career Specialist A Career Specialist identifies, recruits, and educates students experiencing barriers to graduation while helping them make a successful transition from school to college, military, or career pathways with the use of the JAG model. These individuals develop positive relationships with students through utilizing the JAG Advantage of project-based learning, trauma informed care, and employer engagement to deliver student-centered programs with the goal of helping youth achieve their greatest potential. These individuals instruct 35 to 60 students to ensure performance outcomes are met or exceeded utilizing project-based learning and JAG activities such as student conferences centered around career, civic, social, and service-learning, and career exploration. Career Specialists also deliver value-added instruction, support, and advocacy to graduates and non-graduates through follow-up services with students. Much like any position has its challenges, it can be very rewarding as positive relationships are developed with students and one sees the successful futures students go on to lead after they leave JAG-K.
