Immediately Job Description Help Students Connect Learning to Life Our Junior/Senior High School is seeking a motivated and student-centered professional to serve as the IPS & Work Study Coordinator. This position plays a vital role in helping students explore career interests, develop meaningful post-secondary plans, and gain real-world workplace experience that prepares them for success beyond graduation. We are looking for a collaborative leader who can build strong relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners while coordinating the district's Individual Plan of Study (IPS) process and expanding work-based learning opportunities. The ideal candidate will be passionate about career readiness, student engagement, and helping students connect their academic experiences to future goals. District-provided benefits in accordance with board policy and negotiated agreement Position Purpose The IPS (Individual Plan of Study) & Work Study Coordinator supports students in developing meaningful academic and career pathways that prepare them for post-secondary success. This position coordinates the district's Individual Plan of Study process while overseeing career exploration, workplace learning opportunities, and work-study programming for students in grades 7-12. The Coordinator works collaboratively with students, families, staff, business partners, and community organizations to ensure students connect their interests, coursework, and career goals to real-world experiences and post-secondary opportunities. Essential Functions Individual Plan of Study (IPS) Coordination Coordinate and oversee the district's IPS process in alignment with Kansas State Department of Education requirements. Assist students in developing, monitoring, and updating Individual Plans of Study. Support students in identifying career interests, pathways, and post-secondary goals. Collaborate with counselors, teachers, and administrators to ensure IPS implementation is integrated into the school program. Maintain accurate student IPS records and documentation. Career & Postsecondary Readiness Coordinate career exploration activities for grades 7-12. Assist students with career pathway selection, enrollment planning, and post-secondary readiness. Support initiatives related to college, technical education, military, apprenticeship, and workforce readiness. Coordinate career fairs, guest speakers, job shadowing, and workplace learning experiences. Promote employability skills, professionalism, and workplace expectations. Work Study Program Coordination Develop and oversee student work-study and internship opportunities. Build partnerships with local businesses, industries, and community organizations. Match students with appropriate work-based learning experiences. Monitor student participation, attendance, and performance in work-study placements. Conduct site visits and maintain communication with employers and students. Ensure compliance with district policies, labor laws, and safety requirements. Student Support & Communication Meet regularly with students and families regarding academic progress, career planning, and workplace readiness. Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and support staff to identify students who may benefit from work-based learning opportunities. Maintain positive relationships with community and business partners. Communicate program expectations and opportunities clearly to students, staff, and families. Program Management & Professional Responsibilities Collect and analyze data related to IPS completion, student participation, and post-secondary outcomes. Prepare reports and documentation as required by the district and Kansas State Department of Education. Assist in promoting Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs and pathways. Participate in professional development related to career readiness, counseling, and workforce development. Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or superintendent. Required Qualifications Valid Kansas teaching, counseling, or administrative license, or eligibility for appropriate licensure. Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, workforce development, or related field. Knowledge of Kansas IPS requirements and career pathway systems. Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in secondary education (grades 7-12). Experience with Career and Technical Education (CTE), career counseling, or work-study coordination. Knowledge of local workforce and post-secondary opportunities. Experience building partnerships with businesses and community organizations. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, sit, speak, and hear regularly. Ability to travel locally for employer visits, student supervision, and community partnerships. Ability to lift and carry materials up to 25 pounds occasionally. Work Environment Work is performed in school, office, classroom, and community/business settings. Position may require travel between district buildings and community locations.
