Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Youth Career Coach , you'll be on the front lines of empowerment—guiding youth with disabilities as they discover their strengths, set goals, and succeed in meaningful, inclusive employment. You'll play a vital role in helping them build confidence, independence, and long-term career success. This is an hourly position reporting to the
KANSASWORKS
Network for Employment and Career Transition for Youth (knectY) Supervisor.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Personalized Career Planning Partner one-on-one with youth to explore their interests, talents, and goals. Create individualized career development plans tailored to each person's unique path. Job Readiness & Preparation Offer hands-on support with resumes, interviews, job searching, and workplace expectations. Build essential soft skills for professional success. Career Exploration & Job Matching Help youth identify the right employment and training opportunities. Foster connections with inclusive employers that value diversity. On-the-Job Support & Coaching Provide real-time coaching and guidance to help youth adjust, problem-solve, and thrive in their roles. Advocate for reasonable accommodations and tools to ensure equitable access to the workplace.
Long-Term Success & Retention :
Support youth in building career resilience with strategies for stress management, conflict resolution, and ongoing development.
Resource Navigation:
Connect youth with community supports like vocational rehab, independent living resources, and peer networks.
Documentation & Reporting :
Maintain accurate progress records and generate reports as needed for funders and partners.
Teamwork & Community Engagement :
Collaborate with employers, educators, vocational counselors, and community partners to promote inclusive employment pathways.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
Associate's degree preferred (relevant experience considered in place of formal education) Familiarity with disability rights, vocational rehab, and inclusive employment practices Experience working with youth with disabilities in educational, community, or workforce settings Strong communication, counseling, and advocacy skills Comfortable working independently and collaboratively as part of a dynamic team Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) and database tools Certification in career development, counseling, or related fields is a plus Background in job coaching or working directly with employers preferred Must be flexible, resourceful, and passionate about helping others succeed Willingness to travel locally (with limited overnight travel) Why Join Us?

Employee experience:
This position may require travel to meet with clients, attend employer meetings, or participate in community events. Flexible scheduling may be necessary to accommodate participant needs, including occasional evenings and weekends. This position requires the ability to sit for extended periods, operate standard office equipment, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Must possess a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
